Manager needed for Pru Team
Pupil Referral Unit in the Bristol area urgently seeking a manager for the Reintegration Unit to commence in September 2008.
You will be an active member of the PRU Management Team, supporting the Assistant Headteacher in the management of the Centre and taking responsibility for managing the Reintegration Unit.
Working under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher, you will have the following core responsibilities:
- to support assessment and provision to meet the needs of the pupils
- to undertake detailed individual assessments in order to determine the educational needs of the pupils.
- to work with other Unit staff to develop action plans for individual pupils.
- to work directly with groups of pupils to provide education within agreed curriculum areas.
- to employ, evaluate and develop appropriate teaching methods and interventions.
- to work with the Assistant Headteacher and other staff to develop an appropriate curriculum and resources for pupils on the roll of the PRU.
- to develop, deliver and prepare pupils for appropriate accreditation.
- to work with all staff to ensure a positive ethos, which values all individuals.
- to act as a tutor, to seek support and guidance from other teachers and/or services in order to meet the needs of the pupils and promote continuity in their education.
- to contribute towards the process of statutory assessment.
- to monitor and evaluate pupil progress and to attend reviews as appropriate.
to work with the Assistant Head and other staff to develop the policies and practice of the PRU.
- to demonstrate a commitment to equalities in service planning and delivery.
- to undertake any other professional duties appropriate to the post as defined by the Unit manager.
Particular responsibilities:
- To manage the Reintegration Unit
- To support and share a lead role in the management of behaviour at the PRU.
- To assist in the development of programmes, curriculum and timetables, specifically in relation to progress and exit plans/routes/reintegration for students.
- To contribute towards the development and implementation of systems to monitor and evaluate the student progression.
- To attend and participate in the PRU development meeting (Termly).
Additionally, the post holder will be subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure and suitable check to satisfy child protection requirements. The post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and all convictions or cautions must be declared.
