A reputed college in Somerset is looking for a System manager who is interested in joining their growing Information technology team. The role itself is a mixture of 2nd and 3rd and line support working on internal issues as well as dealing with queries on new systems coming from different departments. Candidates should therefore have an understanding of working in the Further education/Higher education sector and/or experience supporting staff from all departments of a company.

Working in a friendly environment the role will cover a broad range of support issues including:
- Manage development and maintenance requirements of the college business and academic systems and data sources.
- Maintain system platforms
- Analyse requirements and integrate with ICT infrastructure
- Undertaking data migration and bringing all processes to single integrated interoperable system
- Support of Microsoft networks and servers
- Maintain and support Business Systems and Corporate Applications

The ideal candidate will have:

- A degree level qualification in Computer Science, Computing, IT, Software engineer or equivalent.
- Strong staff management and leadership experience
- Experience of managing critical database applications
- At least 5 years experience of providing technical support for the development and maintenance of IS.
- Project management experience
- Experience of working with SQL based systems
- Experience with Windows Operating Systems
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 support and maintenance
- Excellent knowledge and experience of server configuration and data migration
- Experience of working in the education environment would be of advantage
- Good Communication skills
- An adaptable approach and a willingness to move outside their comfort zone
- A desire to expand knowledge of both application and infrastructure support

- Visual Basic, .net, php, asp.
- Sharepoint, MS SQL
