Senior Front End Web Developer
An opportunity has arisen within the company for a Senior Web Front End Developer. You will be expected to lead by example and take responsibility for the development standards of the Web Team as well as creating interfaces, interface elements and supporting materials for cutting-edge web based applications. Cross-browser support and professional presentation are essential skills for this role. You will be focusing on all design stages from graphical concepts through to navigational/Interface structures through to development of the front end interface code. The work is challenging, creative, fast paced and intellectually stimulating. The role requires the following skills;
Expert understanding of and extensive experience in HTML, XHTML and CSS hand coding skills; JavaScript & AJAX a plus
Experience with architecture of dynamic web pages
Web/graphical design skills would be desirable
Experience of Content Management systems; eZ Publish preferred.
Expert use of Photoshop including slicing and optimization
Strong understanding of organic SEO techniques.
Advanced understanding of Google Analytics, Adwords and Website Optimiser.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with a confident and friendly disposition.
A flexible attitude with proven experience of working in a small team.
A minimum of 3+ years of experience in website and web application development.
Strong problem solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.
Specific knowledge required
A good understanding of IDE’s used to produce web applications and sites.
A good understanding of source control (e.g. SVN), collaborative tools (e.g.) TeamworkLive), bug tracking (e.g. Bugzilla) etc.
Proven collaborative web development experience.
Expert understanding of W3C Web standards including an understanding of accessibility and its issues with regards to web development.
Educational Requirements
Graduate degree preferably in web technology, web design, computer science or relevant field.
Core responsibilities
To develop front-end architecture for pages with rich graphical/interactive experiences.
Responsible for the quality standards covering the front-end build within the development team which includes communication and enforcement of the agreed coding standards.
Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and business requirements.
Manages resources within budget and project schedule.
Review the workload of the team to ensure that resourcing is skilled to the required level and is aligned with the development tasks/objectives.
Act as an internal consultant and apply best practice across the front end delivery with a strong focus on the usability and functionality of Web application design.
