Group-Drumming workshop Saturday 7th November, Bristol.
Bristol Samba is holding a one-day drumming workshop. This is open to anyone, no musical experience is needed. It will give you a feel of what it's like to join Bristol Samba as a drummer, but it could just be a one-off if you fancy trying a bit of drumming.
The Samba drums are mostly worn on straps over the shoulder or around the waist, as used in Carnival processions, and knee-pads are provided for those wearing the bigger drums. The images below show the larger drums, although much smaller drums can be played as well, so don't let the size put you off.
The workshop will be in Trinity Community Centre, Trinity Road , Old Market, Bristol, on Saturday 7 November 2009, 11am - 4pm. The cost is £24 waged, £12 unwaged.
You can reserve a place by sending an email to isabel_alvarez@hotmail.co.uk
Please include your FULL NAME and a contact phone number in your email. There are already some names on the list so please make contact soon to guarantee a place at the workshop.
Drums and equipment will be provided.
Please wear comfortable clothing, as you may need to sit on the floor at some point to practice floor-drumming with drum-sticks. You might also want to bring a packed lunch, but there are shops nearby.
