Systems Tester (C Sql Server)
My client are looking for a Systems Tester on a fixed term contract, for 9 months initially, and are located in the centre of Bristol.
The role will involve analysing business requirements and subsequently developing and executing comprehensive test scripts for a variety of software products, with subsequent defect logging, tracking and analysis.
Skills needed;
Bugzilla will be used as the defect tracking tool, but Bugzilla experience is not mandatory, as defect tracking systems are much the same.
The platform on which the applications are developed varies according to the project some are written in C# some are written in other development languages. We are more interested in a candidate who is adaptable to different projects, and can demonstrate a proactive attitude towards testing, and can communicate well across various departments i.e. project managers and developers.
SQL Server can be useful as they may need to manage the data under test which would potentially be held in a SQL database, so basic systems admin of SQL Server would be useful.
Automated tools would not necessarily be used, but an awareness of when to apply tools would be useful, and an awareness of the advantages and limitations of using them. As it happens, we have got a Rational Robot license, but Robot experience is not necessary.
The methodologies used would be a combination of Waterfall and V-Model depending on projects.
A manual Tester with system testing experience would be more than acceptable, probably preferable, as the majority of testing at this moment in time is manual, although we may look to automate at a later date, hence the request for an understanding of test tools.
